School Logo
Our School Logo
Our school logo, introduced in 2025, celebrates both the rich history and bright future of Bairnsdale Primary School. At its centre is our historic school building, proudly representing more than 150 years of learning, tradition, and connection to our community.
Perched alongside the building are two Splendid Wrens, symbolising our whole school
community. The wrens reflect the importance of belonging, partnership, and working
together, with every student, staff member, family, and community member contributing to our shared journey.
The wrens represent the two genders of the Gunaikurnai people:
- Yeerung: The Southern Emu-wren represents all Gunaikurnai men.
- Djeetgun: The Superb Blue Wren represents all Gunaikurnai women.
This story is used to teach about traditional social roles and is a crucial part of the cultural heritage that connects the Gunaikurnai to their country.
These totems provide a deep connection to kinship, family groups, and the land. Stories like this are passed down through generations to maintain cultural heritage and remind the
community of the social laws governing their people.
Our logo captures the spirit of Bairnsdale Primary School—honouring our heritage while embracing growth, connection, and learning as we continue Moving Forward Together.
