Curriculum
At Bairnsdale Primary School, our curriculum is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, providing students with a rich, engaging and comprehensive education from Foundation to Year 6.
Our curriculum is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities students need to become confident, capable and lifelong learners. Through high-quality teaching and learning, we provide opportunities for students to grow academically, socially, emotionally and creatively.
Our learning programs incorporate the key learning areas of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, alongside opportunities in STEM, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, People, Place and Culture with Indigenous perspectives and culture.
Assessment is an integral part of our teaching and learning. Teachers use a range of formative and summative assessment practices to monitor student learning and progress, identify individual learning needs and inform future teaching. This ongoing assessment supports responsive teaching, allowing teachers to adjust their instruction, provide targeted support and extension, and cater for the diverse learning needs, abilities and strengths of every student.
We are committed to knowing our students as learners and providing teaching that is responsive to their individual needs. By using assessment evidence to guide our practice, we ensure that students are appropriately supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their potential.
